Why I built BookedBack
My son was 1 year old when he was badly hurt.
I needed an attorney that week, so I left my details with 20 personal injury firms around San Diego. 2 called back. The other 18 never knew they lost a client.
So I went and asked them why.
Last summer I walked into 117 personal injury offices across San Diego and Orange County. I carried a letter for each firm and signed every one by hand. At every door I asked the same question. What happens to a lead who calls at 9 on a Saturday night?
Voicemail, mostly. Sometimes a call center script. Sometimes a receptionist who gets to it on Monday.
But the caller does not wait until Monday. He calls the next name on the list. That is exactly what I did.
The fix is simple to describe and brutal to run. Pick up inside a minute, at any hour. Then keep after the ones who do not answer, 10 or 15 times, not twice. No front desk does that on a Saturday night, and nobody carrying a caseload has 15 tries in them.
So I built something that does, and I tested it the hard way. We found the injured people ourselves, and our agent qualified every one of them by voice and by text before they ever reached an attorney. Over 2,000 calls and more than a hundred rebuilds later, the lesson was plain. The leads were never the problem. The intake was.
I work with personal injury firms in San Diego and Orange County. Close enough to drive to your office, which is where I prefer to do business.

T-Mobile, 2017
My team built T-Mobile's first AI chat agent. You could sign up and buy a phone inside the conversation, and Facebook showed it at F8. This was years before the first language model, so we spent months mapping how people actually ask for things, intent by intent, with sentiment analysis on top, so the bot did not sound dumb.
-
Google, 2019
A data science and AI project, built with the Google team. Sepsis kills faster than a lab can work. We built a system with Google that reads DNA while the sequencer is still producing it, names the bug causing the infection and the drugs it already resists, and answers in minutes instead of weeks. We gave the code away open source.

A team of 250
I joined a conversational AI company at 25 people and helped grow it to 250 as its COO.

My engineering company
I own a software engineering firm that builds and staffs teams for US technology startups. I built BookedBack myself, with those engineers behind me. You deal with the person who builds it, not a salesman.

15 years in tech
I have been building AI for 10 years, back when the big players were still deciding whether it was real. I have hired hundreds of engineers and shipped software for enterprise clients like T-Mobile, InterSystems and Google. I have done the work myself and I have run the teams that do it, as founder and CEO of 2 companies. So I know how the product gets built and I know every part of the business around it.
What I do now
One thing. Intake for personal injury firms. Every call and form answered inside a minute, day or night, then 10 to 15 follow ups until they book. Nothing in your setup changes.
If you run a firm in San Diego or Orange County, I will come to your office and show it working on your own inbound.
